MISSION STATEMENT FOR W.P.C. PEACE FELLOWSHIP

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

The Wedgwood Presbyterian Church Peace Fellowship -- committed to bringing about peace in our families, our community, our nation, and our world -- endeavors to provide opportunities for study, discussion, and action, as we search for Shalom in our troubled world, through such activities as:

    - increasing the congregation’s awareness of various peace and justice issues

    - supporting each other as we are, individually and as a group, involved in

         peace and justice-seeking activities

    - modeling peaceful behavior through our words and actions

    - promoting the programs and educational materials of the PC(USA)

       Peacemaking Program

    - engaging ourselves to encourage the congregation to become involved in

peacemaking activities which are faithful to Micah’s question and response:

He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of

you but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your

       God?  Micah 6:8 (NRSV)
